Today is the birthday of a legend, icon, and revolutionary. No I’m not talking about Axl Rose, I’m talking about Bob Marley. This is a man who touched the world with his inspirational music and is remembered through his peaceful jams and marijuana images. When people picture him, they see great music and pot. I remember him differently however, my image of Bob Marley is great music and “futebol”.

Futebol was a passion for him; he loved the game, he lived the game, he died the game. It is said that he was buried with a ball, even after an injury under his toenail ultimately led to cancer spreading through his body and eventually killing him. But this did not hinder his passion for music and the beautiful game. His music is a symbol for peace, love, and unity; something that is slowly disappearing from the sport.
